“A place of warmth, laughter, and life – far from what most expect of a day hospice.” This is how Assistant Nurse Manager Serene describes HCA Oasis@Outram Day Hospice, a place that prioritises dignity, diversity and development, while challenging the traditional notion of palliative care. Beyond nursing care, Serene celebrates life at the centre, singing with patients and even serving cocktails on rollerblades. Seeing her patients daily, her bonds run deep, and she often visits discharged patients during their final moments at home.

We wish to inform the public about a recent recruitment scam involving HCA Hospice (HCA) that has been circulating on TikTok. It has come to our attention that an individual has posed as a HCA recruitment officer, misleading a victim into making financial transactions in exchange for a job.
On 3 September, a TikTok account under the name ‘mai’ posted a fraudulent advertisement for a role with HCA. The scammer requested for a $500 down payment from the victim – a foreign domestic worker – to register her name for an interview. Shortly after payment, an interview was conducted via WhatsApp. The victim then received a message claiming to be from HCA, offering her the role on the pretext that she spoke Mandarin, while also falsely identifying HCA as a nursing home. The victim was asked to pay two separate payments of $1,000 and $1,500 and to fly to Bangkok for two weeks while awaiting for the in-principle approval from the Ministry of Manpower.
The TikTok account has since been taken down and a police report has been filed. HCA will also be logging the case with the authorities.
HCA would like to clarify the following and urge all job seekers to be cautious of such scams:
– HCA does not have an official TikTok account and is not affiliated with the account in any way. We have not posted any job opportunities on the platform.
– HCA will not request for any form of payment from job applicants for job placement, application processing, or training at any point.
– HCA does not conduct interviews via WhatsApp.
– HCA is not a nursing home.
– HCA will not request for job applicants to fly overseas for any purpose during the application process.
Job applicants may verify the authenticity of any job openings with HCA at [email protected].
